# OpenAI's GPT-6 Models Enter Private Preview on Google Cloud, Completing Its Spread Across the Three Largest US Clouds

Google Cloud customers can now apply their existing spend commitments to GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, and OpenAI models are coming to Google's Antigravity coding tool and Gemini Agent.

OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview to selected enterprise customers through Google Cloud's model garden, [9to5Google reports](https://9to5google.com/2026/10/21/openai-gpt-models-google-antigravity-cloud/), and wider availability is due "in the coming weeks." Customers buy the models through Google Cloud Marketplace, so companies with existing spend commitments to Google can apply that money to OpenAI models, [according to Google's announcement](https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/ai-machine-learning/google-cloud-brings-openai-models-to-customers).

The distribution deal goes beyond hosting. [OpenAI said](https://t.me/aipost/8583) its models will "soon" be available inside Google Antigravity, Google's agent-based coding environment, and inside Gemini Agent, Google's product for automating business tasks across cloud applications. Google now says it is the only hyperscaler that offers Gemini, Claude and GPT on one platform, together with more than 200 first-party, third-party and open models. [Axios reports](https://www.axios.com/2026/10/21/openai-google-cloud-ai-models) that the move puts OpenAI's frontier models on all three of the largest US clouds, years after OpenAI began with Microsoft Azure as its exclusive cloud partner.

For engineers, the practical changes are procurement and routing. Teams that standardized on Vertex AI can now test OpenAI models without a separate contract, separate billing or separate data-processing terms. Teams building in Antigravity will be able to route agent subtasks to a model that is not Gemini. Neither company has published regional availability, data-residency terms or rate limits for the preview.

## What this means

The mechanism is distribution through cloud commitments. Enterprise AI budgets increasingly sit inside committed cloud spend, and a model that cannot draw on that money loses deals it would otherwise win. OpenAI gains reach into accounts that run on Google. Google gives up some Gemini exclusivity in exchange for keeping workloads and margin on its own infrastructure. The loser on exclusivity is Microsoft, whose Azure advantage on OpenAI models now rests only on timing and integration depth. Investors already expected multi-cloud distribution for frontier models, because Anthropic followed the same path. The new part is that Google put a direct rival's models inside its own agent products. That suggests Google sees model choice, not Gemini lock-in, as what keeps enterprise customers. The consensus reads this as a win for OpenAI. The cloud that controls routing may hold the stronger long-run position, since it collects revenue regardless of which model wins a given task. The likelier outcome is that within months the hyperscalers compete on routing, evaluation and governance tooling layered over interchangeable frontier models, and that per-token prices on the cloud marketplaces move toward OpenAI's direct pricing. That depends on general availability arriving on schedule. If Google limits OpenAI models to a narrow preview through the first quarter of 2027, the read is wrong.

## What to watch

- Whether OpenAI models on Google Cloud carry the same per-token prices as OpenAI's direct API, or a premium. The spread shows who holds pricing power in the deal.
- Whether Antigravity and Gemini Agent route tasks to OpenAI models by default or only when the user selects them. Default routing would show Google treating Gemini as one option among several.
- Whether Microsoft changes Azure OpenAI terms or pricing in response, since its main advantage on OpenAI models has narrowed.
