# OKX and NYSE owner ICE file to trade 63 tokenized U.S. stocks around the clock on Uniswap v4 pools

The OKXICE joint venture would rely on the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) new five-year innovation exemption, pass through dividends and voting rights, and run trading in permissioned pools on OKX's X Layer network.

OKXICE is a joint venture between the crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). It has told the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it plans to run a venue for tokenized U.S. equities that trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week, [CoinDesk reported](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/05/okx-and-nyse-s-owner-file-for-round-the-clock-tokenized-trading-in-u-s-stocks). Bloomberg first reported the filing, according to [Cointelegraph](https://t.me/cointelegraph/72478) and [Watcher Guru](https://t.me/WatcherGuru/15347).

The first list covers [63 NYSE-listed companies](https://crypto.news/okx-seeks-sec-approval-for-63-tokenized-u-s-stocks/). It includes Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft and Tesla, along with crypto-linked issuers such as Strategy, Coinbase, Circle and BitGo, [Cointelegraph reported](https://cointelegraph.com/news/okx-nyse-parent-file-to-launch-tokenized-us-stock-platform). Trading would take place in permissioned Uniswap v4 liquidity pools deployed on X Layer, a blockchain associated with OKX.

The filing relies on a new five-year SEC exemption for trading innovation. Under that route, a tokenized share must carry the same rights as the ordinary stock, including dividends and voting. [TechFlow](https://www.techflowpost.com/en-US/article/34370) contrasted that requirement with the offshore model, in which stock tokens track a share price without conveying shareholder rights. The launch still needs further regulatory steps, including a 30-day period in which listed companies can object to the tokenization of their shares.

The design uses public-chain software but not open public access. A permissioned pool limits who can trade or supply liquidity. The venue therefore keeps the access controls of a regulated exchange and adds continuous settlement on a ledger. The closest on-chain competitor by deposits is Robinhood Chain. [L2Beat data](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/05/okx-and-nyse-s-owner-file-for-round-the-clock-tokenized-trading-in-u-s-stocks) in today's market feed puts its total value secured (the value of assets held in its contracts) at $2.70 billion, down 2.5% over seven days. L2Beat classifies it as Stage 0, the category with the fewest protections for users against operator failure.

## What this means

The mechanism is distribution. When the owner of a primary exchange puts its listings into a pool that trades on weekends, price discovery for large U.S. stocks starts to happen while the NYSE is closed. Offshore issuers of rights-free stock tokens, and crypto-native venues such as Robinhood Chain that compete for the same flow, lose their main competitive advantage. The likely gainers are ICE, OKX and the stablecoins used to settle trades on X Layer. The market already expected incumbents to move on-chain. What is new is that the SEC exemption makes dividends and voting rights mandatory, which pushes out unlicensed products that lack those rights. The consensus reads this as crypto infrastructure taking over share trading from traditional exchanges. The structure points the other way: an exchange operator is adopting a decentralized-exchange codebase while keeping control of who may trade. The desk's read is that within months, other exchange groups and large brokers will file under the same exemption, provided the 30-day objection window passes without many issuers opting out. Mass objections from the 63 listed companies, or an SEC delay to the exemption, would prove this read wrong.

## What to watch

- How many of the 63 companies object during the 30-day window. Mass objections would show that issuers want control over where their shares are tokenized.
- Whether weekend prices in the OKXICE pools differ from Monday opening prices on the NYSE. A persistent gap would show that the pools are setting prices on their own rather than mirroring the primary market.
- Whether other exchange operators or brokers file under the same five-year exemption. Copycat filings would turn one pilot into an industry-wide shift of share trading onto ledgers.
