Crypto venues will keep listing perpetual futures on non-crypto underlyings such as GPU rental rates, equities and commodities. Perpetual contracts become a general-purpose leverage wrapper for assets whose traditional derivatives markets are thin or closed to retail. That will repeatedly draw derivatives regulators into questions of venue registration and contract approval.
