CoinDesk reports the price has closed above its 50-week average for the first time in 45 weeks, while gold held near 4,370 dollars an ounce and silver near 66 dollars.

Bitcoin climbed through the Asian session to trade above 81,000 dollars, moving with regional equities and American stock futures as traders responded to progress in the Washington-Beijing negotiations. NEAR rose 23 percent on swap traffic linked to Zcash, one of several privacy-linked moves inside the token market.
CoinDesk also reported that bitcoin has risen above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks, a level the outlet describes as having preceded earlier advances. That is a statement about past price behaviour, not about the flows driving the current move.
The monetary metals sat close to their recent ranges over the same period. Gold traded near 4,370 dollars an ounce, little changed on the day after a month in the 4,300 to 4,500 range, and silver was around 66 dollars an ounce.
The composition of the move is the useful part. Bitcoin rose because a trade negotiation went well, in the same session and in the same direction as equity futures, while gold, whose price has reflected the Gulf conflict and the sovereign-debt strain of the past six months, barely moved. The asset most often described as insurance against monetary disorder is behaving as a liquidity-sensitive risk position. That distinction matters for investors who buy bitcoin expecting a hedge against monetary disorder, because what they hold instead behaves like a risk asset.
Part of a tracked trend
Bitcoin Trades as a Risk Asset, Not Digital Gold
At each geopolitical or inflationary stress point, bitcoin keeps trading with liquidity-sensitive risk assets rather than with monetary metals, so the digital-gold framing continues to fail exactly when investors most want it to hold.
What this means
Bitcoin's correlation with equity risk means it offers little protection in exactly the conditions its advocates cite, because the same tightening of liquidity or breakdown in trade talks that hurts stocks also hurts bitcoin. Holders of large digital-asset positions are running an amplified equity beta, while the hedging role continues to sit with gold, whose demand through this year has come from central-bank and official-sector buying rather than from retail flows. Treasury desks at companies holding bitcoin on the balance sheet carry that same equity-like volatility into their reported results.

At the cited prices the ratio of gold to silver stands near 66, indicating silver has not repriced relative to gold despite the advance in risk assets.
