Ukraine Launches Mass Overnight Drone Strikes as Russia Reports 635 Intercepts

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses destroyed 635 Ukrainian drones overnight across 16 regions and the waters of the Azov and Black seas, one of the larger single-night totals it has reported. RBC said nearly 150 of those drones were downed over Rostov region alone, and airports at several southern and Volga cities imposed temporary restrictions on takeoffs and landings.

State outlet RIA Novosti reported that Ukrainian drones struck a Wildberries logistics warehouse in Samara region, part of a widening pattern of strikes on Russian industry and supply lines. Independent and Western reporting through the weekend described fires at the Ufa refinery in Bashkortostan and restricted flight operations there. These figures come from Russian official sources and are not independently verified, and Kyiv typically claims strikes on energy and military targets rather than confirming totals.

The campaign is designed to reduce the revenue that funds Russia's war. Refineries convert crude oil into the diesel and fuel that generate export income and supply the front, so repeated strikes on processing capacity pressure both. Russia continues to respond with large drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian energy and power infrastructure, so both sides keep striking each other.
